Safran Aircraft Engine Services Brussels recently inaugurated a new maintenance center dedicated to the LEAP engine family. Located in the northern part of the Brusselss new single-aisle engines, this modern facility is designed to strengthen and expand the worldwide support network for the new CFM International. For this ambitious project, Safran Aircraft Engines has invested the impressive sum of 24 million euros for the construction of this 8,500 m² workshop.

A state-of-the-art site

Jean-Paul Alary, President of Safran Aircraft Engines, expressed his satisfaction at seeing this project come to fruition: "We are delighted to strengthen our industrial footprint within the Brussels airport ecosystem, where we benefit from the highest standards in terms of low carbon, infrastructure and skills." The new site plays a crucial role in the global network MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul) to support a growing fleet of LEAP engines, while reducing the environmental footprint of operations.

A genesis planned from 2021

The idea for this new MRO center dates back to June 2021 when an agreement was signed with Brussels airport. Today, the center is not only operational, but also optimizes the existing capacities of the Safran Aircraft Engine Services Brussels workshop. The latter is aiming for a production rate of 120 workshop visits per yearThis will further strengthen the company's ability to meet the growing demand for LEAP engine maintenance.

Certification and performance

From 2016Safran Aircraft Engine Services Brussels was the first workshop in the world to be certified for maintenance of the LEAP-1A engine used on the A320neo family. With this new center, the Belgian company has the means to set its sights even higher by also servicing the LEAP-1Bengine for the 737 MAX family. This dual maintenance capability gives Safran a leading position in the sector, and provides airlines with a trusted partner for the reliability of their engines.

A commitment to the environment

Safran is committed to reducing its environmental footprint. The new maintenance center adopts high low-carbon standards, aligning its operations with sustainability objectives.
